Web presence refers to the appearance of a person or organization on the World Wide Web. The phrase can be definite (as in “Example Company’s web presence”) or indefinite (as in “develop a web presence”). A company has web presence if it is available on the web. The amount of web presence can be measured in the amount of sites an organization or individual has, which can include their own website, social network profiles, and their site’s search engine ranking, traffic, popularity, and backlinks. Users of the web often employ egosurfing as a means of assessing their web presence. Some companies have employees that are focused on internet presence management. Some will hire a firm to manage this aspect of their company for them.
